If all you need to do is get around the activation there's plenty of people sharing that activation hack all over the p2p networks....if it's for vista then make sure to get the readme file because it takes a few specific steps.
If you want to update windows, there's an additional hack for that as well but it keeps needing updating. There's a program release called autopatcher which is much easier and will let you install the windows updates locally from an offline zip pack. The interface works about the same, you can line item choose which updates to install and maintain rollback.

Assume your looking for a Microsoft license agreement to make sure your copy of Windows is genuine? In recent years the license code was "taped" to the side or bottom of the machine. It's usually a small colored (green/blue/red) sticker with a hologram, about 1/2 the size of business card.
If not, you should have received a shrink wrapped copy of Windows CD w/installation manual. The product key may be located on the installation manual. By installation manual I'm talking about a Microsoft book, that would have come with your PC.
Many years ago (like 10) they used send a green card with the software kit that contained the product key.

If you feel that your product was not genuine from Microsoft but you paid for it thinking it was you should call Microsoft or check out the following site that can help you get in touch with someone who might help you.

There's a program called "system info for windows" (aka: siw.exe) that you can download and install. When you run it, it will scan your computer and tell you all you want to know about it, including the product key for your version of windows.
It's free! It's legal!
