I started taking Ortho Tri-Cyclin Lo birth control about a week after my last period. The first two days of taking it I woke up at 6:45 am and felt sick and the second day I even threw up. We had not used a condom a few weeks before that, but then started using one right before I went on the birth control. I started to get really worried that I was pregnant, but my friends told me sometimes it takes a few days after you start the sugar pills before you actually get your period. So I started my period today [3 days late] around 11:30. By 12:45 I felt terrible. Very bad cramps, but just in the normal areas. Then I felt something pass threw, like a clot, so I went to the bathroom. I used to get clots a lot, but small ones. This one was a bit bigger, but was about the same as the other clots I've had as far as appearance and the color of the blood. Is it possible that I miscarried and didn't even know I was pregnant?

It is not abnormal to have bad cramps and bigger clots when your late for your period! I have them every period! I've been getting mine for 39 yrs. I'll be glad when I'm done!
I've had a miscarriage! I hemorrhaged and passed huge clots that looked like chunks of liver before the fetus passed. Trust me when I say there would have been more than you've ever passed with a period!

Miscarriage or not you need to talk to a doctor, you could have bigger problems then just this. Large clots at all during your period are never a good thing. Perhaps even you're still pregnant and it can be ectopic, you can die from that you know... all in all, see your doctor right away and have him take a peek. It might be nothing, it might be a cyst or cancer or something. You must speak to someone.

Yes it is possible that you didnt even know, that is in fact how most misscarriages happen, before or during the period. I don't think that it will make an impact on future pregnancies should you want one at a future date.

sure it is. it all depends on your body. For example age, if you have ever been pregnant before and even your period cycle. Go get checked out if your really worried.
