I have a head cold and feel very hot all day. I don't get any sleep because for being a small women my belly during this last month has taken over my body! I just can't get comfy... Are there any meds that are ok to take to get rid of common cold symptoms? Or natural remedies? I'll take any advice as long as it's safe... : )

Drink a pot of lemon/ginger/honey tea. Just chop up some ginger, squeeze in a lemon's juice, add some honey, and pour boiling water over it, mixing it together. Yum! That's good for the cold part. I'm not sure about the other stuff.

he best thing to do would be to ask you ob/gyn or midwife they are proffesionals and they are there to help you. You shouldn't need and appt. either. they should be able to tell you over the phone... As for my experience tylenol cold and sinus was ok;d by MY doctor, and warm baths worked to. Also, decaffinated green tea with honey and lemon will help break up any congestion. Don't take sudafed if you are in you first or secon trimester though. i don't know what the effects would be, but MY doctor was STONGLY against it.I hope this help and I wish you the best of luck. DON'T use a HEATING pad!!!!

I agree that you should not take any medications. Try to cure the cold with plenty of fluids, like water, herbal tea and citrus juices. You could also boil some water and put a towel over your head and the pan and inhale the steam. This will help clear up congestion. Don't take a chance that something could affect the baby. It isn't worth it.
Get some extra pillows to prop up your head and support your belly to help to make you comfortable.

Pain is the body's way of letting you know that there is a problem within itself. If you are running a fever it suggests that there is an infection that it is trying to fight. Colds and viruses can not be treated, but problems they create, like infection can. Go to the doctor and get treatment, your body's system is telling you to. As you start to get the infection cleared up, the pain and fever will disappear. There are safe medications and antibiotics that your doctor can prescribe during your pregnancy. He may even suggest vitamins to up your system.

Juice of one lemon, 1 cup of water, honey to taste. Drink this before going to bed. Make sure the water is hot enough. This works great. I have an aunt that never takes medicine. Whenever she starts feeling like she's getting a cold, she drinks this stuff and it works. Also, if your sinuses are bothering you, eat spicy foods. This will open up your sinuses.

Which ever you prefer to take you always need to check with your doctor and make sure that it will be ok for you to take. When I was pregnant with my twins they allowed me to take tylenol sinus but only for a short period of time. But I had many problems. If I was you I would as your doctor first before taking anything.....Hope all goes well.

You can take anything that doesn't contain an expectorant. Your best bet is to ask the pharmacist. They are extremely knowledgeable in this department, studying pharmaceuticals in school more in depth then even your doctor! Plus they are FREE to talk to :)
