It's not the winning or the loosing that is important in WOW it is the process. Just like life, you have adventures, jobs, etc. The whole culture and mythology of WOW is what I like and I don't even play. But my husband and 24 and 18 year old sons do.
I appreciate the game because it brings different generations together from throughout the world. My sons have gone on raids with people from Costa Rica and Asia. One player even had to pause from a raid because he lost a tooth. Dinner conversations in our home often involve current raids, or character development. And no, my "boys" don't live only for WOW.

About the only way you can "win" is to keep leveling your character until you hit the level cap, persevere in the game and just don't give up.
Some definite winning moments occur on battlegrounds (player vs player) and in raids that happen in dungeons.
There is, however, no definite end point, no victory cinematic leading to the credits screen. That just doesn't exist for any MMORPG.

you don't. you can't win an MMORPG. i'm not a big WOW fan but it's not possible to win the game because you just keep playing the game.. forever...

You can't win. You just level up and go into the battleground and defeat your opponant.
