I just recently got the IUD put in and in 3 months gained 20 lbs. I was thinking of tubal ligation, but not sure of side effects from that. I am 35 and married with 3 children we are done having children , and I am so done messing with my body and hormones. I cannot handle this weight gain so I was wondering if anyone has had success losing weight after going off birth contral and or side effects from a tubal ligation.

I know that the birth control companies continuously pump out studies saying that their product doesn't cause weight gain. BS!

I was 5'7 and 125 when I first went on BC and gained more than 20 pounds putting me at 147 over 2 years. I recently went off BC, and lost it all within 2 months. I don't exercise, and I eat like CRAP (lol).

Some people say its an unhealthy weight loss, but I feel it's just my body going back to what it's supposed to be.

Try going off birth control, and I'll be very suprised if you do not lose weight.

Sorry I don't know anything about tubal ligation though.

I lost 5 or 10 pounds when I went off the birth control pill, but everyone's body is different. I would guess that if the birth control made you gain weight, going off of it will help you lose weight.

You could try a tubal or if you are happy with the IUD talk to your gyno about having the ParaGaurd IUD put in unsted NO HORMONES!!! That was what I chose because I too can not handle hormones. It works for 10 years and seems to also be a good option if you dont want something as drastic as a tubal.
