Let me ask, how many of you have worked in one at a high level?
How many of you base your answers on cold, hard facts instead of common belief.
It is a fact that Fast Food restaurants are monitored by the environmental Health agency on a 6 monthly basis, as apposed to a normal kitchen which only requires a yearly inspection.
Also, the level of hygiene in any decent, large chain FF restaurant is a lot higher than in a small family run restaurant.
Untill you know the facts, dont answer!!

i totally agree with you I am a qualified chef and am working in McDonald's UK at the moment and can honestly say out of all the places i have worked they go the furthest with the checks that are done every day, all the food has a code on it so it can be traced back to source all this has to be written down daily all the fryers are cleaned every night and the oil is filtered, the grill plates are checked everyday to make sure they are reaching the right temperature. All the food is regularly probed to make sure it is the right temp . I have a mate who is a EHO and she says that mac's never fail an unannounced visit because they above and beyond what needs to be done for legal reasons..
People should not answer until they know the facts you are right with that.

I would absolutely recommend the book 'Fast Food Nation' by Eric Schlosser. It is probably the best non-fiction book I've ever read - it makes its point without ever being sensationalist. It is mainly from an American perspective, but even when some of the points might not apply here, they are still relevant overall.

I am sure the kitchens are exceptionally clean, but if you are going to cut costs to the extremes everywhere else you are going to have low quality food, and workers who don't care about standards. How many people have careers in fast food restaurant chains?

I went in one once, to use the toilet. You do not have to explain your place of
employment to me or anyone else.I am over the moon that you have such
high standards of hygene plus all the agencies that frequent your
establishments.Have you grasped the fact, you and other FF outlets are
selling CRAP,Do you read newspapers, parents are blaming the
Government for their kids obesity, waistlines among the young are
ridiculous too fat in fact to join the army. If WW3 starts of what will we be
throwing at the enemy Burgers Kebabs etc.Shall we say that the enemy is
within, within your four walls and in a large percentage of people their
circulation IE CHOLESTROL. Get it sorted and lets not have any more blame laid at the Governments doorstep, because FF make it so attractive for little Freddie to be overweight before he's even left school and NO IT'S NOT HIS/HER GLANDS it's their mouths.I may use the toilet again, if I get caught short, because that's about all their good for.

fast food provides a clean good service, I do not know many people who do not think so

but the probelms is fat, there is simply too much fat in the products. Also the other problem is white breat, or the bun, it is just terrable for you, but if you went to a Deli and got white bread it is just as bad

plus, I like helping out the local Mom and Pop chienise place or Pizza place

but in a pinch, Fast food works, you just can not abuse it

i am a manager of a small family restaurant and we have a eho inspection every 2 yrs, so ask yurself why fast food restaurants are inspected every 6 months it is because standards are generally poor, you are rated after an inspection and that score either puts you on a 6 month 12 month or 2 year inspection having 6 monthly visits is nothing to brag about

I have worked in a few kitchens and McDonalds was by far the cleanest kitchen going..by a mile. (i was a burger monkey - you dont need to work in mcdonalds at a "high level" to see that they get stripped down and scrubbed every night)

However the food they serve is for sub-human consumption. Full of crap and totally unhealthy (obviously). Id rather eat my shoe.

I used to work for a repair company who repaired commercial gas appliances. The engineers used to tell us about the filth that hides in small Indian, Chinese restaurants and Kebab shops - it turned my stomach. I agree that that larger fast food chains are often far cleaner xxxx

we know they're clean, well lets be honest they have to be, cos if i saw a scrap of dirt in one I'd report it instantly in the hopes that they'd close it down.
The smaller family restaurants might only be inspected once a year but they have fewer complaints against them, generally serve fresh, not processed food and have patrons who happily will go back again and again.

I dont eat mcdonalds or HATE mc donalds or any fast food for that matter because of the heatlh requirments. I hate them because of the disgusting crap they fill our american children with. It ruined apart of my life and I am not struggling with my weight. I do know that I choose to eat there. But Places like McDonalds need to do whatever they can to protect those who are addicted.

I protest fast food and detest the crap the fill peoples mouths with.
