I have three children the oldest being 4 and the youngest is almost 8 months now.... I have breastfeed all of them and still doing so with the youngest. he spotting you are having would not be considered a period just merely spotting as you have stated.breastfeeding does some wonderfull and some not so wonderfull things to your body. Like, as you have probably noticed, LOSING wieght!!!! I would like to make one point though. Even though you may not be having periods and breastfeeding is suppose to keep you from getting pregnant. It is not 100% foolproof. My 2 youngest are ONLY 13 months apart. be carefull... And I would talk to my ob/gyn about this and any other concerns you may have too. The internet is a great resource, but it's not the best...

It is different every time. I nursed my first til she was three and I started getting my periods back when she was about 15 months old. I nursed my second until she was 2 1/2 and started my periods again when she was 9 months old. So they could very well be periods. The only time you don't get your period while nursing is when the baby is doing it frequently enough so your body produces a hormone that stops ovulation. Once your child starts reducing the amounts of time spent nursing, your periods should return on a more regular basis.

I was nursing my 11 month old, had one tiny spot of brown blood, and then I was pregnant with my second child. So, I guess the answer is yes.

Yes and no. Breastfeeding will totally screw with your cycle. I would consult my gyno.
