Thinking about going back to school for PTA or OTA. Good idea?

You should go all the way at become either at PT or OT. If you have a Bachelor's Degree and the pre-requisites, it is only one year more. There are many advantages and less limitations to becoming a PT or OT over PTA/OTA. Not to mention the money and opportunities for growth.

As for choosing which field, you should try to shadow a PT and an OT in different settings to see what it is like. Try local hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, and school systems.

Good luck.

Don't know your current situation, but PTAs and COTAs have it pretty good. Make a pretty good salary - approx. 35k a year depending on setting and location. It also only takes two years of school. Plus, you will work regular hours - not too many positions with a two-year degree can flaunt that. On top of all this it is a very gratifying job.

Great Idea.
My wife is an OTA and we travel all over the country for free. She is a travelling COTA and we live in defferent cities all over the country 3 months at a time and her company pays for it.

definitely a good idea. I am a PTA and it is a very gratifying job. Do some research about both of them to decide which one you want to do.
