I have changed my routine from 1 hour every other day to 30 minutes each day...as long as I rest muscle groups appropriately, will this be ok?

You will not be able to rest each muscle group. For example, if you work the pecs, you are also working the triceps and front delts. If you work the back, you are also working the biceps and posterior delts. You cannot avoid working other muscle groups when working a primary muscle.
