I think the 1st responder is entirely out of line. He does not consider that in 3 months time class will likely be over with. I support the class project 100%. It is a way to teach about investing and to have some fun also.
Here are some to consider.
BAC It will not make you rich but it will most likely not loose you money either.
GGG A smaller company with an excellent track record
CHL This is a Chinese company that is the world's largest cell phone company in the world's largest country that has the world's fastest growing economy. It did very well last year.
VWSYF This is a Danish company traded on the pink sheets. To get a stock quote key in VWSYF.PK It is the world's largest manufacturer of wind turbines. It is a play on high energy prices. It has gone gang busters in the last 3 months.
PETM Petsmart. A play that people love to pamper their pets.
MET A blue chip that is doing very well technically.
COP Better to bet on the price of oil going up than down.
CAJ The best camera manufacturer in the world.
BEBE A play that women love to go shopping for clothes.

Hi,
Penny stocks, also known as cent stocks in some countries, are common shares of small public companies that trade at low prices per share. They are notoriously risky but if you follow a special method I've learned you can earn good money at almost no risk. This is the site I use: http://pennystocks.toptips.org
I definitely recommend subscribing to this site in particular. Very good research, quality stocks. I was a bit weary of penny stocks from all the bad hype they receive but this guy is pretty legit. He's put my mind at ease with a lot of the fears I've had. I especially like that he doesn't send out announcements left and right. I've signed up for other websites that fill my in-box with one company after the other. I don't know where to even start with so many choices in front of me! Nathan sends me one idea a week and that's all I need. Working so many hours during the week leaves me with very little time when I get home to start doing tons of penny stock research. I'm always eager to see what Nathan's next suggestion is each Friday and I love having time on the weekend to do my research.
As said above if you want to make money with penny stocks you have to follow some proven methods. This one in my opinion is the best: http://pennystocks.toptips.org
Hope it helps.

You might want to see what the best investors are buying and selling at a similar site called http://www.top10traders.com - this is a free site that lets you create a portfolio of stocks with $100,000 in "play" money. Each day the site ranks the best performing portfolios, so you can see how your picks perform compared to other investors. You can read posts on investing from the best traders, as well as share your own investing ideas. There is a charting feature, so you can see how your portfolio performs compared to the S&P 500. Also, you can create your own "group" so that you can see how you are doing compared to your friends.
Here are this month's best traders:

Hope this helps.

Hate to burst you bubble..but if you are looking for big gains in three months they should change the course name to Gambling 101. The teacher is really getting you on the wrong foot about investing. I'll bet the teacher dosen't have a pot to pee in. Buy the Total Stock market index or put all your chips on 6 RED at the table.

The corporations like Reliance Capital, Infosis applied sciences,BHEL and so forth are items shares. If you're invested in first time,it's bigger to spend money on mutual price range. Because threat will also be varied.

I agree with the above. 3 months teaches you to churn/day trade and how to go broke in 2 years (the average day trader).
I would cheat and go EWW and EWZ (ETFs that trade foriegn stocks). If I couldn't do that, I would try DIA (tracks the Down Jones) and SPY (tracks the SP 500).
You could go here too.
