Shop www.musiciansfriend.com They have the absolute best prices on anything you want. ANYTHING, as for a specific guitar, Fender Strats are nice and Gibson Les Pauls, however, you will not be able to get the absolute best. As for an acoustic, Washburns are the way to go, Yamaha's are cheaper and they put out well too.

I think you should be able to buy a very decent American Fender Strat for that price. IMO, the Paul is a very heavy instrument and has a very heavy tone. The Strat has a clear, very versatile tone. If you look around, I think you'll see that most rock and funk groups use Strats. Clapton, Rober Cray, SRV and alot of other Blues players use Strats. Many Heavy Metal players use Pauls for their deep, easily distortable tone and infinite sustain.. Examples are Slash (Guns 'n Roses), Jimmy Page (Led Zep), Ace Frehley (Kiss), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne). Examples of Strat Players; Hendrix, SRV, Clapton.John Mayer, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Buddy Holly, Ronnie Wood & Keith Richard (Stones), The Edge (U-2), John Frusciante (Chili Peppers), Nile Rodgers (Chic) I think you'll find a Strat will fit your style of playing very well, but I'm a bass player, so it's just my humble opinion. LOL!

Hmm that is up to you I would say go with something with humbuckers though. Even if you do get a Strat. Get one with at least 1 humbucker. I like Jackson's but that's me and that's because to me they are comfortable to play. Play for a while on a cheap guitar till you can jam. Then go to the guitar store and start picking up different guitars. If it where me I would get a dean Cadillac.
The only thing I can say is that Ibanez is great for rock/metal but doesn't do that great at blues. BC Rich guitars have some of the slowest necks I have ever played my cheap washburn acoustic has a faster neck. One more thing online sites are good to a point but bottom line don't buy anything you can't play.

For $700? I'd say earn an extra 100 for a Dean Razorback at Guitar Center. Look for a used and get some new strings. That's reccomendation.

You can get a cheap Gibson for a little less than $700. But you should probably look for something used, maybe an old strat.

You could get a pretty good Fender Strat for that kind of money. Gibson's are a little more expensive.

That's a hard question to answer. what feels good to me might not work for you. I suggest trying a few out in a music store. Stay away from the Fender Squire line....cheap parts!
