My main worry is usually that something horrible will happen to someone I love.

I would worry about worrying too much. Life shouldn't be worried about, it should be enjoyed. Worrying will give you an ulcer.
And if you really want to worry about something, it should be something like, "will the world's nations' nuclear weapons and inability to get along eventually lead to the destruction of the world?" or "Will global warming eventually lead to the destruction of all life?" not, "I'm getting old."

I wonder if there is any real advantage to worrying about anything. Worry creates anxiety and accomplishes little else. I'm sure there are people who choose to worry, rather than take an action, but it strikes me that worry is an awful waste of time.

Are my children going to be safe in this crazy, convoluted world, or will they be saran-gassed on the playground by some religious fundamentalist who is out to harm innocents?

Am I doing all I can to teach my children how to be good people, how to avoid pitfalls like drugs and how to succeed?
