lol, I've heard and enjoy most of the bands mentioned here... I suppose my current "favorite" would be Cradle of Filth, as that's who I've been playing a lot lately, but... my favorites change with my mood... Tool rocks, System of a Down is great, Steve Miller band, Led Zeppelin, Fallout Boy, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Disturbed are all great, and I could keep listing bands that aren't already on here... The Who, The Guess Who, Van Halen, Foreigner, Queen, Styx, Stonebolt, Bon Jovi all have that nice "classic" rock feel, while Flower Kings, Flogging Molly, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, and others make up my collection of more modern stuff...oops, almost forgot to mention the Eagles, Journey, and Kansas... :)

Allman's are my favourite. But Widespread Panic is a near moment.... they rock and John Bell has the quality lead making a song voice in rock in these days. IMHO. If by means of 'southern rock' you imply simplest 'blues rock'... you would wish to specify that. My feeling is that that 'southern rock' is natural rock (which you're proper, paramore isn't) that comes from the south, which by and large involves a blues established subject matter however no longer definitively.. *lol Wire and string~ the Band got here to brain too however I discounted the reality they have been Canadian. I love them too. "lifestyles is a carnival"...

As far as rock goes, TOOL is definitely a high ranker.
Runner ups would be Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Mars Volta.
But, in my opinion, the greatest band of all time is THE MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA. Yes, yes, y'all. Recognize.
