My mother had to have surgery and had crutches for 8 weeks. It was hard because she is a mother of 3 children. She always cleaned also. We got her a computer chair to wheel around in for the house. She got very frustrated. Try to tell her to stay calm also. She may also want to rent a wheelchair if she lives in a large enough house. You should try and assist her in any way. It is very hard living with crutches. Hope this helps! -Rayna

I'm giving you "bad" advice - as in her doctor would want to strike me down, but here's my experience.
I broke my foot quite a few years back and they put me on crutches and a half cast (for the swelling to go down) for the first week or so. It was *so* hard for me to get around on the crutches, that I just walked on the damn cast and limped my way along. She's *not* going to be able to catch a 4 year old like that, but it's a hell of a lot better than dealing with crutches.
However, she should ask about a walking cast... or a cast shoe... if she hasn't already. As long as her foot is casted well enough, that might meet her needs a little better.
My break was on the top of my foot (ligament should have torn, but pulled off part of the bone instead) so her experience may be different depending on what she broke. But that's my $.02. :)

Keep the cast from getting wet. Double plastic bag around it when take a shower.
And get some type of spray for the smell.. After a few weeks it will stink.
Other than that, she will adapt.
She gots crutches, so its not like both her legs were injured.
She'll manage. You can help her

There are things she is going to have to do, and things that are going to have to remain undone until she can use her foot again. She should strive to only do the necessities, and not worry about the little things that others can do. Like, she has to get up and go to the bathroom, but she does not have to go to the store. She needs help of neighbors and family members and friends right now, and most people will be happy to help knowing it's only temporary.

lol neither the fate of England or Man U rests on the foot of Rooney, so don't count out England from Euro 08 just yet. I don't see this being much of a problem for Man U. Man U will still end up at the top!

Perhaps you should mention to her that she asks her brother if he could take any time off in his schedule to help her in any way shape or form. Perhaps a family member could help by preparing meals for her that are ready for her to bake as well as meals that are prepared for the children. Someone could come in and do her laundry for her once a week as well as vaccuum and/or dust.
It is only for a month and that is what family is for.

Maybe she could have some other people (friends&family) help her, such as you, if you could maybe go to her house every once in a while.
