Why do some people lean sideways to the left as they turn left? It looks so stupid and they don't do it when they turn right!

It does look ridiculous for a driver to do it in a car a speeds under 80kmh (50mph), but at high speeds or on two wheels (bicycle or motorcycle), it's a necessity.

If your head turns opposite to your direction, you can lose your inner-ear balance and control of the vehicle. People turn their heads in to fight gravity.

Because they are usually crossing their right arm over the left side of their body and, depending on the way they have their arm and body situated, this could cause the rest of their body to also lean in that direction.
