Maturity is learning to accept life just the way it is. You are not the first person that had to walk away from a major want because it was not meant to be.
This just become part of your past experience. The only healthy emotional mental position is accept it move on and be open to new opportunities that may come your way.
Just remember, when one do closes another one opens. It will be your own emotional blindness that keeps you from walking through a new open door that will make you happy again.

Don't look back... move forward day by day. Tell yourself that this is the best thing in your life and be happy. I thought I had to be miserable because I didn't have what I could never have but you know what.. as soon as I started to accept how things are I looked at it from all angles and because I truely LOVED him I let him go... You can move forward and always know that that will be apart of your life which is now in the PAST. Do you want to live in the PAST? Or Do you want to LIVE IN THE NOW! Take it daily and find the mystery of what God has in store for you. He sees your heart and will heal it in time. He'll also bring exactly what you need in HIS time! He only wants the "best" for us and maybe that wasn't. God Bless and good luck...

Have you ever heard the country song, " Some of God's Greatest Gifts are Unanswered prayers. " ? I've been in your place before. I wanted something/one that I couldn't have. I thought it was everything I wanted, i thought it it was perfect...the right thing for me. When it didn't happen, I learned that song really has truth in it. I wound up with something 10x more amazing, and %100 more than I could have ever asked for. It hurts to move on. I know it does, but dwelling on what you can't have hurts even more. So hang in there. Focus on what's ahead and not what's right in front of you. You can do it!!!

Things won´t happen for a reason, and thins will never happen the way you expect it. So if it doesn´t happen, then there is a powerful reason behind that. Trust that soemthing better is waiting for you around the corner, so keep moving on.

Unfortunately, what we want is not always what is best for us. For me what I want is USUALLY not best for me, and when I have forced the issue and received what I wanted so badly, it has turned out not to work out. Here is a timeless classic:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
