if you see a person on the street, how do you know what caste he or she belongs to? could a dalit simply relocate and assume another caste? how does this work?

skin color used to be one. Key word.. "used".
um.. language is one.. if a certain diction has carried on through the generations.
Last name is pretty much the most reliable. It's hard nowdayz.
They could relocate...but eventuallly, when u talk, ur traditions and familly background eventually comes through. If somone was raised in a "lower caste"... he or she couldn't just fit right in with the "higher caste" the next day.
If you're an Indian.. u know what I'm talkin bout. It's kinda like... how in America, we can spot a "redneck"!!! lol

We cannot identify it based on appearance or by talking. It is a 'human created' and not natural.
Yes. Dalit can relocate. But why to assume another caste? Take Mahatma Gandhi - He was born as a Vaiysya and was a staunch supporter of Varnashrama Dharma. But he never followed. As a Vaisya he had to do Business. But he violated it. He came into politics that a Kshatriya has to do. So what he preached, He never practiced.
If we go by Varnashrama Dharma then BATA company that manufactures Leather products is a CHAMAR company and hence can we call the promoters of BATA as CHAMARS?
To tell HINDUISM is a Bull **** is demeaning BULL **** because atleast BULL **** when gets mixed in the soil is useful as a manure. HINDUISM is not.

you cannot make out the caste of a person in India. I know there are people who are brahmins but working in low class jobs or living like low caste people. I know so many examples where low class people are in the high caste with acceptance and high caste people are poorest of the poors.
Bt why do u need this information. what purpose will be solved ? what will you accomplish by getting hold of this information?

NO BODY CAN RECOGNISE THE CASTE OF THE PERSON FROM THEIR FACE TILL THAT SOMEBODY WILL NOT TELL YOU, IN THESE DAYS DALIT PEOPLE ARE WORKING ON THE TOP POST OF THE COUNTRY THEY ARE HAVING VERY GOOD INFLUENCE IN THE POLITICS.
