yes. you need NO talent to talk to a beat... now somebody who actually plays an instrument or actually sings.. they're talented but not rapping. especially if your just swearing every other word... that's not even entertaining to listen to!

i totally agree! its crap! and what really bothers me is the guys (mostly black) write this stuff and they have come soooo far since the days of slavery and no respect as an equal that they rap about stuff like killing, gangs, sex and money while calling each other the N word....its just defeats the WHOLE purpose of where they have fought so hard to come from!!! it makes me so mad....and so sad at the same time. its like taking two steps back rather than getting ahead and getting the respect they deserve as well as ANY person deserves. its creates such an ugly stigma. no one can deny that people think twice when they see someone with baggy pants hanging off the butt and loads of "bling" everywhere and calling each other N while blaring rap music thats promoting barbaric behavior! WHO can respect that??????? i tell you...its so sad.....i think of the greats: MLK, truman, washington and sooo many others who would be rollining over in their graves if they knew what they have worked so hard for has been so disregarded and degraded. and the whites who rap too are just as guilty for trying to jump on the band wagon of keeping this music around. but thats a whole different political topic on my theory on that.

Im with you in believing that rap is crap, well at least most of it. I don't really believe that it is music because of the lack of instruments. To me music is anything with a guitar, piano/keyboard, base, etc... Basically what rap is to me is just poetry with a beat. I think I might like it more if the lyrics had more of a meaning and less profanity.

BOOYAH!!!! I HATE rap!!! I despise rap deep down in my soul. Yes, I will admit, there are a few songs I like. But I am not being hypocritical because they do not go against my reasons for hating rap. I like the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song (you must see that show, it's really funny), I like Lose Yourself by Emeniem cause it sounds cool likewise Toy Soldiers I like the piano but it pisses me off after a while, and I like Where'd You Go by Fort Minor.
I hate rap because most songs have an annoying repetitive beat and it doesn't take real skill. Most of the songs are about degrading and disgusting things. Or just stupid things. Like @$$ Like That or that song about the grills, the name escapes me. And all their videos have half naked woman in them. And the songs are half swears, some are bleeped out so much you can't understand it!! That is why rap is popular. It disgusts me. The singing isn't actually singing. I have to admit though, it can sound good, if paired with rock beats or something like that. They all think they are cool with their gangsta clothing but they look stupid. Get some clothes that fit!!! and they are supposed to be role models, so think of what little kids are going to get out of this, new profane vocabulary, calling their friends that are girls -possibly their mom!- their bittch, dressing like an idiot and that shooting people is fun. Great messages. Everything rap stands for I despise! It has become something meaningless and far from what it started from.

Every single genre has music that is crap.. But not all rap is crap... if it was i don't think that these artist would be in the top 40 all the time

Well, depends on who you like, I prefer the early and mid-90's rap...It was real rap then, now is just non-sense. 14 year old kids making their own lable about being gangsters, Stupid asses, whats wrong with kids these days. Everyone wants to be a rapper and gangster now-a-days, even the middle/upper class white ones...

Like all music, you have good artists who make good music, (whichever the style) and then you have the "others".
I'm not a big fan of rap, I really don't like it, but some artists I like.
