Funny, I prefer Depeche Mode to the Jam, but as far as sheer talent, I'd probably pick Paul Weller over either Martin Gore or Dave Gahan.

Depeche Mode. I liked both of them, but neither throughout their career, but Depeche has the edge for longevity and for 2 great albums: Songs of Faith and Devotion and Violator.
