In particular, I visited this one place along Skyline Boulevard and it was a huge rock cliff and it overlooked a (redwood?) forest...it took about 1-20 minutes to walk to the cliff from where we parked. I haven't been there in years and don't remember where it is...oh I also remember that the cliff wasn't dirt but a blackish type of rock. PLEASE HELP!!! I want to find this place for a photography assignment. THANKS!!!

There are some great views from the roads on the upper part of the Presidio. There are some really great views of the Pacific and the GG Bridge

Between Sky Londa (junction of Route 35--Skyline Dr and Route 84--Woodside Rd) and the Route 35 junction with King's Mountain Road, there's a great lookout point, but I don't think that there was a trail that you can follow from there. On Page Mill Road about a mile north of Skyline, there are good hiking trails from a parking area. There's also a good hiking trail right at the junction of Skyline and Page Mill. Hope you find the exact spot you're looking for. However on a clear day, most of the lookout points along Skyline are awesome.

Skyline Blvd. isn't very long in SF. It only runs between San Francisco and San Bruno. The other answer is probably correct because I don't recall forests in this area.

Are you talking about parking off Skyline and then walking along a path on the west side of Skyline in the San Andreas Lake watershed area? If you go a farther on, you merge to Hwy 280 and then there is the Crystal Springs Watershed.

Or are you talking about the cliffs out near Fort Funston where hang gliders go and a lot of people walk their dogs? That's where John Muir Drive meets Skyline Blvd. in San Francisco.

What about Mt. Tam in Marin?

I don't know where you were but there are great views of the city from the Marin Headlands, and coming over the bay bridge towrds the city at night is really pretty. Also, driving out to Stinson Beach is really pretty too with lots of cliffs, and the view of Ocean Beach from Cliff House is gorgeous. Good luck!

there is also the lawrence hall of science in berkeley
you get the same foto but with better compostion like the angle is so good that you can see both bridges , san francisco and berkley and oakland. i suggest going in early in the morning becuase the sun give a lot of light on to the city. also if you come early enough like 7- 8 am then you may see halkf the bay covered in clouds with nothe but the sutro and transiamerica towers visable.
