Do you think we are taught or raised to be judgmental or do we really come to our own conculsions with age? I know for myself, my beliefs differ so much from my up bringing, that they are mine.
I also think society teaches alot of us what to think. I just notice in todays America, its wrong to be a free thinker. Which is what the country was founded on. How did this happian?

For example: If a person was to discuss sexuality, you are automaticality a sinner for making comments. I think it is healthier to discuss things than ignor them! Well just let me know about your opion!

We are a product of our environments. We judge because we can't understand someone elses experience and often don't want to try. Spend a day in someone elses shoes and you will see life differently. Your judgments will change threw your experiences. Don't believe for a second that what you think is right today will be right tomorrow.

I don't think that it's our up bringing that causes us to be judgemental. I (like you), have alot of different views about thingsd than my parents always had when I was growing up.
For example, my parents always tried to teach me that gay people were bad, and i've grown to understand that it's not true.
I think people who judge other people are just looking for a way to hide their own ignorance and fears.
It's just the same as hate only a different word. Fear breeds hate in people.

Awesome question!!!
I cannot agree any more.
I think people are afraid to honestly discuss things because it may show gaping holes in their reasoning.
It is much easier to dismiss someone as bigot, or queer than to address them as humans and wrestle with true topics and ideas.
Free thinkers are rare...always have been.
The majority just spout rhetoric or follow those that spout it.

I think that children are raised to be judgemental. There's no way a baby is born & hates one group or another if it's not fed to them by their parents. But at a certain age you grow up & realize that your parents actually aren't perfect & their way could very well be the wrong way.

I think we come to our own conclusions, my mum is one of the most open minded, acceptant people I know, but her mum was a raving homophobe/rascist/anti-semetic biggot. Some people are afraid of the things they don't understand.

I don't find anything wrong in discussions. I do find something wrong with being judgmental. I have no opposition to free speech. I have great opposition to hate speech.
