Sure. Do you want to spend a $30 (minimum) office visit charge for a $2 animal?

Yes, you can take a gold fish to the vet, but make sure the doctor you go to does Goldfish. Some vets don't. If your fish looks a bit sick, and you are serios in fish care, go to a vet. Sometimes though, you can find the problem with your fish online. Many websites will help with that. Many pets do sell medication, but sometimes it can be a little costy.
I have fish too, so understand how important it may be to you. All fish are worth a lot more than what you pay for them, because each one is unique. I personally recomend the companies Wardly, Tetchra, and Hikari. There the best. Jungle is a good company too, for certain medications.
Hope I helped!

I agree with you. It would be very expensive and taking a fish to a vet is not likely a very good solution. I might go to a forum about fish and ask if anybody knows the proper treatment. You may get an answer here if you can describe the symptoms. Anything beyond that is too much for a normal fish.

You can but many vets don't know a lot about fish.
Go to a big newsagent and find an aquarium/fish-keepers magazine. They should have a list of fish experienced vets in there.
Ignore the people who say you shouldn't waste the money as a fish doesn't cost a lot to buy-they are not true animal lovers.

I dont know if you can or not, but I would think twice about it simply because the bill for the office visit might be 10 times more than you paid for the fish. I would suggest calling a vet and asking. I dont think most vest deal with goldfish.

Sure, you may call the vet first, other alternatives are to call the pet store & ask for the fish department.
Read a book on goldfish- they always list possible diseases & options. Look up Goldfish care & diseases on the internet.
Good Luck!

depends on how much food you are giving your fish , they don´t eat a lot . a small pinch of there food is enough , Clean it´s bowl or tank out , and add very little food , watch & see if he come´s to the top to eat it . if he has´t touched it with in a day then you might want to take him to the vet

I dont know. But they should only be eating about 3 flakes per day. Although i think they would eat till they explode if they could so i guess its not looking good. They can get funny tummies so maybe miss out food one day and try it on a few flakes the next. GO AND SEE YOUR PET/FISH SHOP THEY WILL GIVE YOU THE CORRECT ADVICE.

You can look for an aquaculture vet, who specializes in fish. You might save yourself some money by asking at the store who sold you the fish.

well...funny question..but some vets might take on gold fish but the vast mojority doesnt and what it would cost to take your fish to the vet is what it would cost to buy in the frist place. i would say go to the local pet store and tell them about your fish( give them as much info as you can) 9 times out of 10 they know what your talking about and what you need to cure it. bets of all its free!!
