Do they make a stain resistant fabric for such projects?

One thing that all quilters agree on is that you should always use 100% cotton when quilting. Cotton shrinks evenly, and holds up better then other fabrics. You can also buy Scotch Gaurd in a spray can if you want to protect it.

You may be able to find stain-resistant fabrics -- check with your fabric store and see what they have! But you'll likely find those either in children's prints or perhaps the home-decorating sorts of fabrics, and that second kind can be too stiff to work with for quilting.

I do know that I've seen fabric sprays that will help protect your fabric against stains... I want to say it's as simple as "Fabric Guard", but that's too easy! They were in the laundry section of my supermarket/superstore when I saw them, and might be worth looking into as well.

I use calicos or quilting cotton fabric. They're not stain resisitant but they wash well in the washing machine.

You could also see of scotch guard will work.
