Birth gives way and light to death,
death means you were once alive
Alive with people that craved for material things
Alive with people that only looked out for themselves
But it's only in the last moments of your life
The final breaths you take, that you will
remember those people,
and rather be with them
than lying on your deathbed.
When you're living is when you see those people as
they are...
people who you know aren't even going to attend
your funeral,
in reality, people who never cared
Caring wasn't in their system.
Honesty wasn't in their heart.
And right now, you know, that you aren't in their mind.
Even though they are in your thoughts, and your memories,
to them, you are merely a fraction of their
self- absorbed lives.
People who you knew for a few moments
Those who cannot save you from going back to dust.

I am sorry that you have so many self-absorbed people in your life. I hope that you are a giving and caring person so that you do not fall into the same trap.

This poem is slightly cryptic but I think with understanding is probably very excellent.. changes hearts to masonry weep Each day, by bed, the prey is lost by concrete cave In these lines do you mean a masonry weeps because of the laborious task carried out or by living in a concrete cave? I think its a very deep and intellectual poem Well Done you xx xx Keep on at it and I think that you could do very well

That is definitely well-written and complex and deep and dark, but I don't agree with what it says. People are like chocolates! Some may be a little hard on the outisde, but we all have creamy (or at LEAST nougaty) centers. That's from Scrubs-- and I found MY meaning there. Not in your poem. But really nice!

it's a great poem , it has very profound meanings ,but i think that ur pretty pessimistic, look harder im sure u'll find a caring loving person around.
