It's true, he's bald. And extremely self-conscious about it.
The funniest part about that scene in the movie is that he is spoofing himself, "don't tell anybody!"

It was fake in that movie, which was made more than a decade ago. But I think this may be a case of life imitating art. I 'm pretty sure that if he isn't completely bald now, his hairline has thinned considerably. He's always had a high forehead, which is often a tipoff that someone will lose their hair at a relatively early age.

It was a spoof and a joke. He was wearing an excellent 'bald wig' with his real hair underneath! Don't worry!
