why do you say, fling on the side?
Are you married? Is he married? are either of you in a committed relationship?
If so, then don't give him a poem, any gift, or any item that can later be used to incriminate or blackmail you. No loose ends. The less evidence the better.

A poem makes things more serious than fling- no matter how safe. I say no to the poem. Guys aren't as romantic as we are and I don't think he'd appreciate it! It might scare him a little.
