We're looking to take our friend on a surf trip for his bachelor party (he's more into experience stuff than bars, etc). The trip would be over an extended weekend, and we know nothing about surfing. I would like to find the cheapest and easiest option possible, knowing that some exceptions will have to be made. The best place would be one we could get to easily from the airport, and be in or close to a beach that provides lessons. I found the Cabo Surf Hotel online (www.cabosurfhotel.com), but I'm thinking that might be too expensive. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hola! The Cabo Surf Hotel would be the most appropriate place to stay if surfing is high on your agenda for Cabo.

Your other option is to look at the all inclusives in the area (Royal Solaris, Crowne Plaza, Presidente) and then just rent equipment from Costa Azul surf shop. I would think that the expense would still be high. Cabo is very expensive. Maybe you can cut down on the costs by booking the all inclusive rooms w/airfare, or by renting a condo and all bunking in together.

Zippers beach is a great little place to learn how to surf and cabo surf hotel and costa azul surf shop both offer lessons.

Maybe you can rent cheaper accomodations closer to the town of Cabo San Lucas (20 minutes away). I always recommend the Cabo Inn. It's about $65 a night. If you stay in Cabo, then its guaranteed you will have an excellent bachelors party in Cabo. There is so much nightlife and fun in the town (which is about 20 minutes away from the Cabo Surf hotel).
What ever you decide, it will be a fun weekend! Enjoy!

You don't have to go all the way to Cabo for safe dental work... I live in Rosarito, and so does my dentist! Cabo had little or no drug cartel violence at all, and what there has been in Baja, both north and south has subsided. It will never go away completely in areas like Tijuana becasue it is the main highway to the USA. Anywhere in Baja, just avoid drugs or people who are involved with them, and you will have no problems. Use common sense typical of international travel and you will be fine. ~K

La Jolla has some nice waves & places...

San Diego (Chula Vista) might be a nice place to stay but it's not close to the beach. If you go to downtown it's close to the ocean lol..
