Harvey. There is just something about that movie that is captivating. Maybe it's the way everyone thnks his caharcater Elwood is crazy and that his giant invisible rabbit friend, Harvey, isnt real. Nobody believes that Harvey exists but that doesnt stop Elwood. Even when his faith is on the brink he finds a way to believe and knows that Harvey exists. Eventually he begins to get others to believe and they begin to realize maybe Elwood is normal and there are many people crazier than him.

I love that Jimmy Stewart's character is the type of character we dont see as often anymore. A happy go lucky guy with a smile on his face and always quick to invite strangers over for dinner. He doesnt care if his thoughts or friend is socially acceptable and he continues on doing what he wants, and he always does it with a smile.

Such a feel good movie, how can you not love it?

Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. It was a wonderful patriotic movie done a year before the US entered WWII. Jimmy Stewart and Jean Authur play comedy well off of each other, as polar opposites in this movie. Jean's cynical world worn secretary is the perfect complement for Stewarts niave patriot whose bill suggests the building of a boy's camp in his state.

It's A Wonderful Life. Also love Shenandoah. It's about a father trying to keep his family out of the Civil War until his youngest son gets taken captive by the Union Army.

Night Passage. When James Stewart at the end of the film said he was going to bury his brother played by Audie Murphy this scene was touching. for he was in a sense really burying his brother since they were Lodge Brothers.

Wow...impossible to choose just one. Here are a few of my favorites:

"It's a Wonderful Life" ...obvious.

"Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"

"Vertigo" (an absolutely TWISTED film; Hitchcock's best)

"The Philadelphia Story"

I'm probably leaving out about a dozen other great ones. He was one of the best.

Vertigo, and for many reasons. He was excellent in his role as the aflicted detective. It was Hitch's most personal work. He and Kim Novak meshed in that movie so well, they had me convinced about the secret that you find out about mid plot point 2. I love that movie.
