the significance of buying one rose means love and simplicity or another interpretation "The single rose, whatever its color, depicts utmost devotion to a single person. "All my deepest affections are concentrated in you""
it does not mean cheap...however if you don't want to buy into the commercialzation of the holiday don't buy anything...

Giving a token of one's affection to another at Valentine's Day is an act of showing someone that you have feelings for that person.
Wrap the rose stalk in paper, tie a red ribbon bow on it, and present it with a kiss. Where you purchase the rose can show you how to present the rose wrapped, if you need help with that. I'm assuming you don't need help with the kissing.

It's perfectly alright; in fact it's the most romantic flower arrangement there is. The traditional method of presentation is between your teeth, while you serenade your intended from the street outside her house. Remember to include the flower-head - petals etc - with the stalk. Just a stalk on its own wouldn't be as romantic.
Seriously, it's a great gesture and you won't be labelled a cheapskate. Go for it and good luck!

I think one rose is sweet as long as it's given with something else, like a nice dinner or something. It might look kind of cheap if that's all you're giving her or doing for her. I think you should tie a ribbon around it and hand it to her in person or have it in a vase on the table over a nice romantic dinner.

hand it to her all by its lonesome
be aware the color of the rose has some symbolism. If she knows this she could read a different message than you intend to send.
Red = Passion/Lust
White = Purity/Virginity
Yellow = Friendship only
Blue = its cold in here.
Okay I made that last one up, but the others are real.

i think buying one is fine. present it with a card, chocolate, and or teddy bear. give it to her with a kiss. you will only look like a cheapskate if you have an unappreciated girlfriend. If they think you are a cheapskate on here o well your not buying for them anyways.

truefully i like the ones from the gas station that has the bears inside them. those ones are nice and they are fake so i can keep them as longs as i want. I kept all the ones that my husband gave me and the ones from when we dated. So i think those are the best bc they have cute little bears inside them and they stay around forever if you want them too. So i suggest that. One is fine
how he always presented them for me was we would stop at a gas station and he would say hey ill bright back stay here but would you like anything while im gone. whatever i said he would get but when he got back if i wanted something he give it to me then he say here you go and would also give me the flower with the bear in it.it would say i love you and some said #1mom bc i am one. those are the sweetest things he had gotten me. I LOVE THEM TO DEATH. N HIM OF COURSE

if she thinks you're cheap or is interested in how much money you spent (or didn't spend) then she's no good! One rose with a card, and some love will do.
