Hi.
I've had an ingrown hair on my bikini line for like 5 months. I popped it out, and tweezed the hair, and it healed. Now, it looks like a bump with a brownish scar and I feel there's still something to be popped in there, it's been like that for three months. I've been squeezing it for two months like every week but I can't see any hair in.
Any ideas what it is and how to get rid of it?

This is called a sebaceous (sp.?)cyst. Usually after shaving, any lotion or oils can get into the pore of the hair follicle causing it to get majorly infected. If it gets bigger and starts to hurt, you will need to have you doctor look at it. If it is bad, they will lance it (cut it open) to drain the infection (the pore is pretty big at this time). Usually they prescribe an antibiotic also. So remember watch using anything containing oil after shaving! And see your doctor if it starts hurting!

I'm with Tammers on that one! Sebaceous Cyst or severely ingrown hair. First of all, Peroxide will bubble pretty much anything biological, including blood and plasma which any open wound will have. You can try to lance it yourself but most likely the infection inside will get worse. --Lancing (popping) is best left to a professional in a sterile field. There very well may be a big long hair trapped inside just brewing up a nasty cyst which will leave a bad scar if left untreated. A dermatologist would probably lance it and prescribe a soap or ointment with something like salicylic acid which you can get on your own over the counter (Physoderm) to help prevent further follicle infections. They have something better to prescribe than physoderm I'm sure, but if you really don't want to see someone for it, physoderm has been recommended for bikini line irritations (just don't get it inside obviously). Have fun!

Take a needle/burn the end with a lighter until it turns red and push a little hole in the top of the bump or browned area...when you do that...pour peroxide on it, if it begins to bubble, there is an infection set in there and you need to go see a Dr. and get some antibiotics.
