I have learned a valuable lesson today! I just found out that a payment I put in my mailbox was stolen, washed and rewritten to WalMart for almost 1200.00!!
I thought I would post this to warn EVERYONE to drop them off in a government mailbox somewhere! We are not safe to have mail sent out in our own mailboxes!!!!!

Yep.. my Mom put out about 5 of them for the carrier to pick up. A week later the Bank called her to ask about some checks some guy was trying to cash.
The bank stood for the losses, gave her a new account, but she had to deal with Police, Bank investigators and the Postal Police. Since she is 85 they didn't really suspect her of being a criminal mastermind but it was quite an experience.
If I could only get her to use a computer. Ah well.. now she has her mail taken to the main mail box.

What form was the payment in? A check? Call your bank and try to recover the money, it may or may not be possible.
It sounds like a no brainer not to leave a payment in the mailbox, but we all do stupid things occasionally. Live and learn (as it seems you have).

Sry that happened to u.... but next time get a certified money order.... and take it to the post office....
