In Rhode Island, What is needed for driving at 16 years old? For example, age requirements, SSN, TIN? I have a TIN Number, is that good enough to maintain a Rhode Island License? Also, what other uses do TIN numbers have? What may they be used for?

Appreciate ALL answers, Will pick best. Thanks :)

First off, a "TIN" is a "Tax Identification Number". The term is generally used with regard to businesses and is the number the business is identified by with the IRS. For an individual, the "SSN" or "Social Security Number" acts in the same way. When you file your personal taxes, you must put that number on the form so that the IRS can identify you.

As far as the requirements for a RI Driver's License, you can go to the Department of Motor Vehicles' website. Here's a link:

Hope this helps you.

A social security number and that you are 16 years of age. Unless you have a business, you don't have a TIN(Tax Identification No.). That is to register all the expenditures and revenue from your business establishment.
