In debate class I was assigned Pro Gay Adoption- which I do not agree with, so its not my easiest topic.... I need information or sites other than wikipedia that give info about homosexual adoption. Also I would love your opinion on Homosexual adoption, pro or anti Adoption, and why.

Well I am not sure why a girl as young as you has already decided that this is wrong. You should do lots of research and maybe you will change your mind.

I think it should be allowed because two loving parents of any race, sex, or religion is better than just one parent or none at all that care for you. I do not believe that having the same sex parents will hurt a child in any way. Kids are more accepting of things than adults. This will not turn them gay or anything else. Besides isn't it better for a child to have two people that love him and accept him than a drug addicted mother and a father in prison?

However most states as well as other countries do not allow for same sex couples to adopt, so what they do to get around this is adopt as a single person.

Please do your research with an open mind and you might just learn something.

I used to be pro-adoption for anybody but since being a parent, I think parenting is just too difficult for gays who want to mimic the lives of straights. There haven't been any reports on the results of children being raised by gays that say anything other than, 'Well, it's just about the same as with straights.' Truth is, in this country, where children are a low priority, parenting is so tough and marriages struggle to survive, you need the most committed and the most financially stable of situations and still hope and cross your fingers your child will have some moral compass to guide him or her.
Being in a gay household is so lopsided that it really qualifies as being in a single parent household. There's no balance and I doubt that long-term, there is emotional stability. Not to mention the fact, the child gets older and will still want his or her heterosexual parents (who gave him up for whatever reason) to be a reality, not a mystery. Be prepared then to have heterosexual parents and homosexual parents come face to face when little Johnny wants to know who his real daddy is.

Some states, such as Michigan where I live still have laws on the books which prevent gay adoption but other states allow it. In general, I support gay adoption as long as they allow the child to develop their own sexual identity. I believe that every child needs a parent or parents and as long as they are brought up with love and with discipline, orientation should not be the determining factor. there are a lot of great gay parents out there, including single parents, just as there are a lot of single straight parents. I further think that statistics prove that there is no higher incidence of gay parents who abuse children than straight parents. Both have similar responsibilities, and both have the same success rate in adoption. Kids don't care where they get their love from!

Anti here, a childs mind is like a sponge and you can make that child into any type of person from birth. Homosexuals aren't wrong or right but most will tell you they had a difficult childhood with their father or were abused by a close family friend. I'm going on experience here from gay friends I know.

A child would grow up extremely confused by what it sees in their house hold, most children will feel an attraction to the opposite sex. I did when I was 5 just went up and kissed a girl on the cheek, first week at primary school. But I had a bad experience where she went and told the teacher, I got a right telling off and then never kissed another girl till I was 17. The child would believe these feelings were wrong as in their house hold their parents would be living a same sex marriage showing affection towards one another. When that child goes to school it will show affection to their same sex thinking it's the acceptable thing to do. I know pro gays will be saying it's fine but the human population can not survive if we are all attracted to the same sex.

I could help save a child from Africa from dying by adopting her. But I won't. Cause I'm a gay male. And I don't want to suffer the indignity of even the accusation that I wouldn't love that child like my very own daughter. And God, I'd kill anybody who laid a hand on her until she was of age.

But that little girl will never have this dad. Cause people are too prejudiced to understand families built on love, not bio-destiny.

adoption is different in each state, and why should 2 people can love and give a kid a great home not be given the right to adopt because they are gay? your sexual orientation has no thing to do with raising a child.

I am pro, because its a shame that any kid goes unloved no matter what. Basically I am also sick and tired of Theocratic radicals DICKtating how other people should live their lives. WE are all human beings with certain inalienable rights, REligeon needs to stay OUT of Congress and the Court rooms, so that we can give these kids that have nobody a chance to grow up loved, and nutured to become productive adults!

Hey I'm all for gay adoption. If you are willing to love a child then adopt one or have one yourself if you're a woman. If they want to condemn someone for being gay and wanting to adopt a child then screw them.

Gays are just as capable of taking care of kids as straights are. Enjoy your project...and yes I'm being sarcastic. ^_^

Not about the gay thing though. Gays can make excellent parents (not all but some).
