Spain and the UK also claimed they made them frist too. But it is either France or Belgium no one really knows for sure out of the 2 it is unknowen who was the first

It was actually the French (okay, perhaps the Belgians, because Belgain fries just doesn't have the same ring, does it??? But it was in this area, at least!).
In the cafes, they would serve the french fries with your meal! But, they are not like the ones we see today. Original French fries were actually potatoes cut up long and really thick & chunky.
Nice.
As to the Americans, well they didn't INVENT french fries, rather, they revolutionised them, into the thinner form we know today!

The Belgians. It's direct irony when America started calling them Freedom Fries because of France's political views even though the French had nothing to do with them.

No. They did not invent them, nor did they declare them. The Belgians at the beginning constructed those tasty treats and for the period of WW1, American squaddies encountered them. However, Americans are not constantly quality on geography - then or now - and Belgium was once viewed as facet of France and so they referred to as the candies 'French Fries' - I bet it was once extra euphonious than Belgian Fries.
