my son, 5 months old, has been at our daycare center (large facility, not in-home) for about 3 months. half that time he has been eating baby food.
he has had sweet potatoes ALMOST everyday during the past 1.5 months. seriously, i can count about 6 times he's had something diff.

so, my question is:
is there usually a way they track what the babies are fed each day??
i have it written on his "report card" each day that i get, but does the daycare document this somehow??

in your experience.
thanks!

it depends on the facility...some of them get federal funds and they have to abide by usda standards...and then I believe they have to keep track of it...of course even then there is a vast differences among day cares on how responsible they are with this kind of thing...many send home a weekly or monthly schedule of meals...I don't know if this would apply to the babies though...
this seems like an excessive use of one product...there should be more variety in your child's diet...I would inquire about this...

They didn't have to keep track of what the babies ate where I used to work because the parents sent in food for their infants. The cafeteria kept track of the food provided to the older children though. If the school provides the food for the infants where your son goes then I would think that they would have to keep record of it. I don't know why he is getting the same thing all the time, maybe that is what he eats the best and they are giving it to him because they know he likes it. But, I think they should be giving him more than that one thing. Talk to his teachers about it if you are concerned and see what they have to say. If that doesn't help then speak to the director.

The daycare that I worked at was a lowercost daycare($75/week for infants) and the parents provided the babyfood/formula/etc.. and the daycare provided food for the older kids.

We didn't keep track of much of anything besides attendance.

Are you providing the food or is the daycare? If the daycare is, they should have a "menu" which they follow. If you are providing the food then it's up to you to keep track. If there is concern about the variety of foods he is getting I would take it up with the director.

if you ask them to document it, they should document it for you. the biggest things day care do is keep the kids safe and the parents happy so if you ask them to do it, they will probably do it for you
