What You Need:
1 c (250mL) peanut butter
1 qt. (1 L) corn syrup
1/2 cup (125mL) soap
1 oz (30mL) red color
15 drops blue food color
Mix creamy peanut butter with a sufficient amount of white corn syrup to make a runny mixture.
Add (non-sudsy) soap and food colors and mix well.
Stir more corn syrup in until the desired consistency is reached.
Refrigerate unused blood in an airtight container.
Tips:
Inexpensive white corn syrup is said to be thicker and more suitable for the fake blood than its costlier relatives.
You must be aware that this mixture may temorarily stain skin, and may permanently stain clothes. Because of the use of natural sugar in the corn syrup, this fake blood will not keep long. You can extend its shelf life by simply storing the blood in a refrigerator.
Also, make sure the blood isn't transparent, it should be opaque. The blood may be sticky too

Girl, what in God's name are you going to DO with it? Gheesh! I thought everyone knew by now that Light Karo Syrup is used for fake blood. Add a drop of blue and several drops of red food coloring to it, or better yet, black cherry Kool Aid with a little red food coloring. Don't hurt nobody. Too bad...

Haven't tried it but, I would mix icing sugar/powdered sugar with water until you find a consistency that you like, then add red food coloring to it until the red comes true to the tint that you want. Should be easy enough.
Very slowly add the water to the sugar, not the other way around.

Don't use ketchup. It doesn't look like blood.
I have found that when you get a dark cherry, squeeze it just hard enough so that juice comes out, and then glide it along the surface which you want fake blood, it looks very realistic.

Corn Syrup, the clear kind not maple flavored and red food dye. If you don't have corn syrup make your own clear syrup with ordinary sugar and water, Boil together until thick, Stir constantly or it might caramelize making it brown.
