A lot of the tigers players have reported to spring training early , not just pitchers and catchers either, Curtis Granderson just signed yesterday and reported to camp, for all the people saying they'll just be happy with last year, you couldn't be further from the truth they are fired up and ready to go again, and they know it's going to be a long road as every season is, but they are still young, talented, and very hungry for that championship.
A lot of haters in here. But that's ok just take a look at the tigers roster top to bottom, look at their pitching, look at their minor league prospects, they are a solid team much more solid than boston or new york , They have a great mix of young talent and veteran leadership, I don't see why not. and Justin Verlander is going to be great for a long time. I honestly don't see any other team that is solid from 1 to 9 and 1 to 5 like they are.
And they are doing it will pure talent, adding sheffield gives them the bat they needed. Monroe will improve, granderson and thames should improve, I think they could be on the verge of having a great team for the next 5 years and beyond. And as of now leyland is getting everything out of them and more. They deserved the championship last year just as much as the cards did. Cards just had a little more experience on their side and some luck too. as for the other teams chicago white sox might have the biggest drop off, the twins will be about the same maybe a few less wins, cleveland needs stronger pitching even though their offense is decent.

As a Tigers fan, I will say no.
Generally, when a team has a significant jump in wins (roughly 25 for the Tigers from 05 to 06), generally, the next year is a down year. I wish I could find the source, but I remember reading an article somewhere this topic. Think about the Indians from 04 to 05 to 06.
I will predict the Tigers to be at around the 88 win range, which won't get them to the playoffs in the AL.

The Tigers will return to the World Series sometime, just not in '07.
I, for one, am glad the Cardinals beat the Tigers in the '06 World Series. I've believed that, ever since the Tigers made those playoffs, that if they won the World Series, Leyland would've deserved it, but the players (especially Verlander and Rogers) wouldn't have.

Absolutely. The rookies have one year experience and the team as a whole have improved. Most have wrote the 2006 season off as a fluke. Tiger fans know better. I would rather be underestimated by the other teams and spank 'em all in October. GO TIGERS 2007

I see them winning the division, or making the wild card.
With Gary Sheffield added, and out fine young pitching staff The Tigers are no fluke (unlike the chicago whinny sux).
Hopefully they can return to the fall classic,, but it wont be easy.
The experience they gained last year will help.
As someone else pointed out, Jim Leyland is not going to let them rest ong thier "laurels"..he's going to work them harder than 2006.
So, if they dont make the WS this year watch for them to win in '08 and '09.

They will win the A.L Central to return to the playoffs, but they won't go to the World Series. I say the Yankees beat the Red Sox in a classic, 7 game A.L.C.S, and then the Mets will beat the Yankees in another classic 7 game series to win it all. Get ready for a subway series!

Shaking Magic 8 Ball....hmm...answer: Try Again Later. Ask the question as we get closer to the All Star Break. Its way too early in the season to make any educated guesses, for all we know, the Tigers could lose half the rotation during spring training, and bomb out to the bottom of the central....

Teams seldom do. How many Tigers have jumped ship for free agency ( I don't know) and how many had career years they are not likely to repeat. Even the Yanks don't unless they can buy even better players than what they lose. Repeating seems very hard because of free agency and the ruthless ownes in all sports. Love the Tigers but don't look for them to repeat, sorry.
