it is a normal reaction. the map causes the lining of the womb to disintergrate just like a normal period although usually you do get heavy bleeding. for the pill to work it needs to be taken before 72 hours after having sex so there is no way of knowing if she was pregnant or not as an egg wouldnt have inplanted by that time. If bleeding continues for a couple of days and gets no lighter or she feels unwell take her to the doctors.
About telling her mum ask what she wants and use your own discresion as she is 16 and precautions where taken i would advise she tells her mum as to sort out a more reliable contraception or goes to the doctor with out telling her mum.

It's normal. As long as she isn't soaking more than 2 super pads or tampons every hour for 3 consecutive hours then it is fine. This is simply a side effect of the morning after pill. And it in no way means she did conceive and it isn't a miscarriage.

mmm, not a miscarriage cuz u dnt technically conceive until abt 2 weeks after sex (confused the hell outa me that did.) i've taken the morning after pill twice and never had heavy bleeding, so i'd advice u take her 2 the doc's. dnt tell her mum, only tell her if it turns out summat is seriously wrong. your cousin wuld prob get it in the neck from her mum abt having sex! typical mums, at least ur cousin had the sence to get the morning after pill tho! hope it all turns out ok for her.

Get her to the ER immediately. She could have had a miscarriage from a pregnancy that happened before she took the morning after pill.

I am 34 weeks pregnant and I took the mornig after pill 6 hours after the incident. I am proof that it does not intefer with an already active implantation/pregnancy. She is just starting her period I bet. I am not a doc...any concern of this nature should defiantly be presented to someone with a medical background.

ive taken the morning after pill and this has never happened to me before. i do suggest that you take her to the doctors as if the bledding is that heavy it isnt right. oh and a quick question to you and it may sound silly, how long after sex did she take the morning after pill. she may be telling you porkie pies and the result is this heavy bleeding

totally normal.... she couldnt get pregnant and miscarry in 1 day. It take I belive 3 days after sex for the conception to really take place. And if she had already been pregnant it would not have this affect.

Please have her call the provider that gave her the morning after pill (PlanB) and make an appointment so that she can discuss
future plans for birth control.
Remind her that withdrawal is NOT a birth control method.

first of all this isnt normal...now it might be a fact that she was due her period anyway and this is it but if it isnt then she shouldnt be..bring her back to the GP immediatly...as for telling her mam are you mad? your cousin has trusted you enough to tell you..do you really want to break this trust by telling her mam..next time she has unprotected sex she might not tell anyone then and wont have anyone to turn to for advice....encourage her herself to tell her mam if you want but dont be the one to tell her mam!
