I graduated from college back in May 2006 with a B.S. in Information Systems & Operations Management. I took a job that July that is not in my field just to get started with some full-time work experience. But now, I'm realizing that I just don't make enough money to pay all of my bills (car note, rent, electricity, insurance, etc) effectively without having to take out loans. I currently make about $26,000 a year, but I rarely see any of it after bills roll in. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where I could start looking for a higher paying job. I'm a North Carolina resident, by the way.

This sounds kinda generic, but have you tried putting your resume onlline on Monster, Careerbuilder or Yahoo! Hotjobs? You'd be surprised how many employers will call you because they seen your resume. With a degree like yours, I don't think it would be hard finding a job, especially if you are willing to relocate.

Also, I'm not sure where you graduated from, but my university offers a place online that I can put my resume, also. Even after graduation. Colleges want to help place people in the job market. It makes their school look better! Call your university and see what they can offer. Mine has job fairs also that alumni can attend as well.

Any higher paying jobs have a ceiling to it.The higher the pay higher the taxes taken out from the pay check.Let me show you a scenerio of $50,000 that is almost double your salary.
On $ 50K take 40% out for your taxes you will be left 30k.
30K divide by 12= 25,00 A MONTH.
Monthly $2500 you have to pay all your bills as you mentioned.I think you may have student loans to be paid also. What will be left you have to figure it out. It's called left over.Nobody like left overs.
Now when your pay doubles your responsibilities also doubles.Think how much time will be left for you with less money in your pocket. As life goes on you need to settle with a family. Then what?
You will be in this same vicious cycle, and wondering why I am not getting ahead in life? What's wrong?Probably change in your thinking.I think.
