A states computer system does not communicate directly with another states computer system. They are only connected together on the Federal level... NCIC- I believe it stands for: National Criminal Information Center... Law Enforcement use only... And the reason they ask is, some people do lye about their information, just to get a Valid ID / Drivers License...

State drivers license divisions are ALL equipped with NCIC (National Crime Information Center) which is a database that maintains information about drivers licenses, wanted criminals, etc!
Others may have stated "they will ask you" however I did not!
You are required to provide positive identification prior to obtaining a drivers license at which time your information is entered in to the NCIC to insure you have no warrants for your arrest and other information which would include information from others states having revoke/suspended information!
If you contact the drivers license division in YOUR community...they can show you exactly how they conduct their business!

They aren't always linked, and it could be part of evaluating you for nervousness or signs of agitation.
Dude, if your license is suspended, don't drive. Get whatever resulted in the suspension dealt with and get your license back legally. Trying to game the system will most likely result in more problems, possibly jail time.

They ask to see if you are honest or not. They already know the answer - but you don't necessarily know that they do.
