AVG has to be disconnected to download e-mails and every thing works ok. Is this a throw back from a discarded norton prog?
The message that shows in the AVG box says something like protocal----it is't my machine so I am rather vague about the problem.

try in the AVG to see if email settings are correct. if it carries on uninstall it run a reg cleaner and install again.

You say it's not your machine but seen as it is happening on your machine it has something to do with it. wether it be minor.

I would make absolutely sure there is no Norton residual program in your system. Go to Add or Remove Programs via Control Panel. Scan through carefully and look for remnants of Norton software. Otherwise, as in a previous answer, you might have downloaded a Trojan or Worm! I used Stinger (McAfee) to clear my own system last year.
Personally, I have used AVG for years with no probs. Good Luck!

If you have deleted norton there will still be a lot of files installed.
go to desktop>search type in norton then search, right click to delete then look at the settings of avg and spam settings.

Sounds like you have another virus program in there.

If you do either uninstall it or disable the email protection on it.
