this method does not take as long as some other ones, and also is the goal of teaching in general: sumarize whatever you are studying and figure out how to apply it in real life, or why it is the way it is. if it's math, figure out WHY something works, therefore you'll be able to remember it. In basically any subject, you can discount other possibilities with logical reasoning if you understand the concept completely. you'll know if you've done this, because then you can do it in your sleep =D it helps you to become a reeeally good test-taker.
Even still, you should be as prepared as possible for the test by talking to your instructor to make sure you know what to study for.

Flash cards for def.'s
Read the text book
Read over your notes. They say you should study 3 hours for every hour of lecture. I know thats crazy talk, but def study the best you can.
I also find Study groups help. When you say things out loud with other people, it sticks in your head more.
Nothing can gaurentee an A, but you can do your best. Also when taking the test, read the questions carfully! Don't rush, and read over your answers when done to make sure you put he right ones.
