Do you believe that there is an honest attempt to reduce homelessness in NYC?

No. The government has turn its back on the homeless. Every state has local laws on how to
handle the homeless. Sadly, unless the homeless is
mentally unbalanced and a threat they are largely
ignored by most people.

Mental Illness and De-Institutionalization has allowed Mental Patients to be Freed, since 1975, the main reason why people are on the Streets you can ask the People that know and Trust me.

85% of the Homeless are Mentally Ill
10% are Unemployed
4% are Runaway Teens
1% are Serious Drugs addicts/Abled-Bodied Bums

By the government? not really

by not-for-profit organizations? Yes, but their funding is VERY short, and therefore they can't do as much as they would like to do. So the result are slow in coming. By the time they fix a few things, there are more homeless.

You also have to look at who is really down and out, and who just is lazy and would rather "pan handle" then get a job, etc..

That is where the trouble comes in for many organizations.

No there is not and there is not in the coutry either. you know its sad but the question is why do these people just plain give up mostly i believe its depression and that if theyw ere treated with meds and seen doctors early n ths wouldnt be an issue. but actually no one cares and its sad.
