Also check out getting everything in one package; you can get some good deals.
I have gone with Talk Talk and have telephone calls, line rental and broadband together. No problem with them.
I used to be with Tiscali and would advise staying away from them. Customer 'service' is one of the worst; a reason why they are one of the cheapest.

Depending on what u want the internet for, determines somewhat who is the best isp. I am with plus.net myself, with a package that allows me everything I need. ( no download limits 250mb free webspace and a bit more.) Bt is good, but you can be a bit restricted on how much usage you have per month, unless u pay a considerable amount per month. Aol is good also. No download limits and a very goo customer service. Please, in my opinion, stay away from tiscali and Orange. As for sky. if you subscribe to sky already, ie tv, then you can have sky internet at a very very good price. I have heard no complaint about this service, but again, look at the policies if you are looking to use a lot of bandwidth per month. Dont get caught out.

Been with BT and the service was fine, thinking about returning to them now they have unlimited broadband (left before as kept going over limit)
SKY are new to supplying BB, they may be OK but I'd rather wait and see how they turn out.
I'm currently with orange and counting down the days till my contract expires, signed up almost a year ago for 8mb broadband, when this became available found out I needed to take a ne 1yr term. They reduced the price of the packages but again to get the reduced price I need to sign up for a new 1yr term. Signed up for unimited BB and got a letter advising me I was using too much as I had gone over 50gb in a month, this to me is not unlimited.
This I object to so end of the month I get a new MAC code and head to someone new

BT is the proper in each and every element, except for fee,I had talktalk, what a nightmare.BT technical help is very sturdy, also BT run each and every of the exchanges meaning you save appropriate each and every of the time.more than a number of broadband companies won't be able to get their kit to artwork real in BTs exchanges, thats why human beings have issues.

I to am on Orange (Ex Freeserve/Wanadoo) it is £17.99 for speeds up to 8.1Mbps (depends on your exchange), I have been with them from the Freeserve days and to date had no problems. you can get a package now with a mobile and FREE Braodband but only at 2.2Mbps, it cost £5 extra a month for faster speeds. I Know people on BT, and Talk Talk both Ok. Had bad reports on AOL (steer clear), their E-Mail Security blocks innocent E-MAils for no reason . I am also getting bad vibes from sky users. Hope this helps. It really comes down to pot luck and where you live.

Telewest (cable broadband not ADSL broadband) is miles better than BT, SKY or any other telephone based broadband service.
