I have carpal tunnel, I got it almost a year ago. My first symptom was that my hands and arms would 'fall asleep' at night or even if i took a nap. No pain right away. Then I lost some grip strength. Then I got pain. I have to get surgery in both wrists and it's gotten really bad. I have to ask people to open jars for me and stuff like that. I work at Starbucks and I am positive that's how I got it. Everyone wants extra caramel sauce in their caramel macchiatos and we aren't allowed to cut the tips of the caramel bottle, so it's torture! Go to an orthopaedic surgeon right away and have them do some quick tests to see if you have it. One is Tinel's sign and they tap on your wrist to see if that brings about numbness or tingling. My doctor had me hold my hands together like praying to see how long it took to bring on symptoms. Numbness in your hands and arms while sleeping, pain especially in the thumb(s) and first couple fingers mostly, weakness, those are signs of carpal tunnel. Of course it could be something else, so definitely see a doctor! Good luck and don't wait long like I did!

With Carpal tunnel your index and thumb usually go numb. You sound like you differently have something. I would go to the doctor. You can goggle carpal tunnel and see what it tells ya.
