First we lost Cam Cameron, then Wade Phillips. Is the firing of head choach Marty Shottenheimer a GOOD thing for the Chargers? I'm thinking maybe so! What do YOU think?

By the way, the 2007 schedule is out! LOOK OUT Colts, Bears, Patriots, and Ravens!

Yeah i'm thinking it was best. He was about to hire some idiots for his coordinators. I also think they shouldve done it sooner so they couldve gone after some better coaches then the ones available now.

In a way, it's both! It's good that the Chargers fired Marty Schottenheimer now that the core of his coaching staff is now gone & that they can now concentrate on finding a new head coach & start off with a clean slate to improve on being a championship team.

Bad thing is that the Chargers should have fired their general manager in A.J. Smith. How & why both Schottenheimer & Smith couldn't get along very well is very obvious & still unclear. If they knew that both of them wern't getting along in the organization, then the Chargers should have fired him as well & starting looking for a general manager who knows football & knows how to run an entire organization. It's too bad that the Chargers gave Marty Schottenehimer the boot & not did anything to resolve this matter any further. They may have gotten rid of their coach, but the problem persists in their organization & I feel sorry for the next head coach who may be dealing with a problem in the general managership of the team.

You know Tampa Bay fired Tony Dungy because they said he couldn't win the big one. Gruden comes in, goes to the Super Bowl with Tony's team (and Cover 2 I might add) and then has been dismal ever since. Really like how that one worked out for them.

I think anyone who fires a coach that just came off a 14-2 season is an idiot. The front office was just ticked off at Marty for letting his coordinators interview for other jobs (okay so they get mad at the guy for letting his coaches better themselves, cute). Under Marty they made the playoffs twice and had winning records after his first two initial seasons there. He was only there for 5 years and that's not much to work with considering you have to deal with salary caps and contracts.

So now instead of having half of your coaching staff gone, you're also looking for a head coach too after alot of decent prospects have been hired at other positions. And now they're saying their top prospect is Pete Carroll the man they're going after. Bet that'll be successful. Hey look at it on the brightside, you might get the Falcons ex, Mora haha. What a joke.

Bad for getting to the playoffs, but with the talent S.D. has that shouldn't be a problem next year. Its a GREAT thing if the Chargers actually want to win a playoff game, let alone go to the superbowl.

Hard to say. I mean come on Marty can't seem to win in the playoffs. However he is pretty good in the Regular season. It is a bad thing because it is so late to replace him.

BAD! The Chargers got rid of the wrong man! They should've gotten rid of their butthead GM for not keeping Marty around!

Good.

For Charger opponents.

Change in HC means a whole new system etc. The Broncos love the change.

It's very strange that a 14- 2 team would fire the head coach.
Something is definitely not right in San Diego...

Good, he can't win the big one. Marty-ball doesn't work, he needs to get away from it. He didn't utilize all of his weapons. He'll never get a ring that way.
