Is your firewall blocking your browser software (ie: Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc) from accessing the internet? You can check by going to START, then Run and typing "cmd" in the box (without quotes). Once you get the command prompt window, type:

ping http://www.yahoo.com

This will test whether you can connect to the net without a browser.

If you get a response back, then that'll tell you if your PC is able to connect to the internet and if it can, then likely it's just your browser application is being blocked by your firewall... But that's just one scenario.

If you can share files between PCs and one PC can connect to the net and the other can't, then that's a likely cause though. If you have a software firewall that has pop-ups that asks to allow your web browser whether it can access the net and you clicked no and never ask again, then chances are that's the problem. You'll need to go into your firewall and give it permission.

Use a hardware firewall/NAT/router like an "SMC Barricade". Then all computers will get Net access via the router, and your inside network is relatively secure.
