I sold an item to someone on ebay, but now they are claiming that they never got the item even though it has been 6 days, and they are asking me for the tracking number. I don't know what the tracking number is or where it would be located, but I can only assume that it would be on the reciept I got when I shipped the item. The only problem is I lost the reciept. And I KNOW I put the reciept in a special place so I would not lose it, yet I have looked absolutely everywhere that it could be and I can't find it anywhere. So does anyone know if the tracking number would be on the reciept? Because there is no sense in me keep looking for it if the tracking number would not be on it anyway. Also, if the tracking number would be on the reciept and I don't find the reciept is there another way I can get the tracking number? Like could I call the post office? Would they know?

No, sorry. If you don't have the receipt with your tracking number on it, they won't be able to find a record of it. They have far too many packages per day to keep a log without a tracking number. You can't search by name or address...only by tracking number, which gets scanned into the system with minimal information. Give it a few more days and it may yet turn up. I don't know where you live, but the postal service is running slowly here due to the inclement weather.

If you shipped it through the post office and requested tracking, go to your post office and ask if they can help you. Also, go online to the postal service website, where you can track packages.

Go to wherever you sent the package from and they should be able to pull it from there.
