what we came for. As soon as we were out the door two men grabbed us and orderd us to go with them . I didnt catch on at first and was very frightened .so i balked at the idea of going with what i thought were thugs. They then as they paraded us through the store began calling us thieves, ordering us to shut our mouths or things would go tougher on us . when i told them we did no steal anything they called us lyers in FRONT OF EVERYONE....loudly..then one of them said yo dont have a reciept for what you have in the bag. and i was mad by then and i held the reciept up in the air and said the hell i don't....they then made us go into this tiny concrete room scary with no windows nothing but two guys and me and my friend ...i was terrified , I had no idea if they were working for the store or were police ...i still have nightmares...anyway ..they went through my purchase and compared it to my reciept , we had stolen nothing. they began to offer us fifty dollars to just go away. i said no.

You must be able to prove this. If these were employees, they would of had name tags. I realize that you may have been frightened, but when you approach the store manager, you need to have names. Also, you say they called you liars in front of everyone. Who is everyone? Were there witnesses? The more names you can get, the better chance you have of taking action. This type of treatment does not seem likely in a J.C. Penny store. It's a big company with a pretty good reputation. I hope you have names and witnesses. Good Luck.

Contact a lawyer. I think you can sue for false arrest or at least harassment because they detained you without cause. If you were outside the door, they can get shoplifters at that point.
But the other behavior of the store security is highly questionable.
If your lawyer can get copies of store security tapes or if you can find witnesses to testify on your behalf, then you may be able to win a lawsuit.
Obviously, you will want to write down everything that happened and you will want to keep your receipt or any other information vital to your case. Good Luck!

Threaten a lawsuit. If this should ever happen again make the store call in the cops and when they determine you are innocent then you have a sure law siut. I don't know if you'll win one now but let them know you aren't going to just drop the matter. You won't get rich but the price will no doubt go up!

well i would have taken the money as the chances of you doing anything now are small you would need security tapes witnesses and other things to do anything about this like getting a lawyer
it's the bs that come with taking on a big company like this if you do want to do anything about it contact the news station and see what can be done with them and get a lawyer soon before they get rid of the tapes

Put an ad in the personals in your local paper asking if anyone saw it. If they will come forward and state what they saw your lawyer has a better chance of getting your day in court. But by all means get a lawyer and sue.

Contact an attorney and institute a false arrest/ detention lawsuit against the store and their employees. I hope for your case that you had the presence of mind to keep the receipt.

You could probably bring a lawsuit against the store for harassment. They are supposed to ask before doing what they did, but you prob'ly got the ones on their high horse...I would contact an attourney!

you can sue them for a verry large amount of money, consult with an attorney as soon as you get a chance! do it fast so they can not destroy the survellance tapes, if you remember their names make sure to give those to the attorney as well.

if all else fails, go to your local news paper and see if you can get a story written about it. that will stir up some drama on their end.

The $50 means "uh-oh, we screwed up big time". Did they put a hand on you? You've got them for assault charges. You could be a nice person and just let this all go away or (just for fun) take them to court.
