People cannot afford, food, housing, birth control, clothes, medicine, etc...
Why do you care about the dentisit when so many other problems are so much worse?
You want to know why people are so poor? Put nothing on your resume but a high school education and try to get a decent paying job. A living wage is about $13.00 on average. Go out and try to find a job that will pay you that with just a high school education. now think of all the people that don't even have that. So many people get kicked out of school, or drop out because there is no help for them. They have it even worse.
This is not a state of wealth. You just have to open your eyes.

I agree that Amercia's healthcare system is in shambles, but i know that in most cities there are free clinics available to people who cannot afford healthcare otherwise. And hospitals will not refuse a "poor" person if they need treatment in a life or death situation. So I think it's more accurate to say that poor people DO have access to healthcare, but its not the best out there and usually not preventative in nature (more for catastrophic events).
